This research is motivated by inadequate textbooks for writing scientific works in the Indonesian language course. The study aims to analyze the need for textbooks for writing scientific works in the Indonesian language course. This type of research was qualitative with an explorative-descriptive approach. Next, the research site was a Buddhist college in Central Java. Research time was from October 2020 to February 2021. Data collection techniques were through interviews, questionnaires, and focus group discussions. Data analysis techniques used data analysis techniques model by McDonough & McDonough. The results provide benefits to meet the needs of the textbook for writing scientific works in Indonesian language lectures for Buddhist university students. The findings are also useful for the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and the Buddhist college in Indonesia to improve the ability to write papers for students.
