Justification for Optimal Load Parameters in the Annual Training Cycle of Young Power Lifters with Musculoskeletal Disorders

Long-term medical experience demonstrates that the use of medications practically does not allow to achieve serious improvements in the health status suffering from cerebral palsy. It has been established that a significantly greater health-improving effect can be achieved not with the use of medications but with the help of physical culture and sports including through powerlifting exercises. Revealing the optimal structure and content of the annual training cycle for powerlifters with cerebral palsy seems to be currently important. The purpose of the study is to provide an appropriate ratio for specific and non-specific training devices in the one-year program of powerlifting for 17-18 – year-old young men with cerebral palsy with musculoskeletal disorders.The research methodology was based on the use of theoretical analysis, testing, pedagogical experiment and methods of mathematical statistics. Two groups of 17-18-year old young persons with cerebral palsy who had not been previously involved in sports took part in the annual pedagogical experiment. During the annual experiment powerlifters in groups Аand B performed different training programs with various ratios of specific and non-specific loads: in group A, the ratio was 60% : 40%,in group B – 70% : 30%. At the beginning and at the end of the annual experiment, the level of development of physical qualities of young men (speed, speed-strength qualities, endurance, absolute and relative strength of different muscle groups of the arm)and mental states of young men(determination of neuropsychic resistance, personality diagnostics for success motivation and motivation to avoid failure)have been tested.Upon completing the annual experimenta higher (р<0,05) level of physical qualities (tests for speed, speed-strengthqualities and static endurance) and mental state of training(characteristics of neuropsychic resistance, indicators of success motivation and motivation to avoid failures) was identified in athletes of group A. The analysis of the results of the annual experiment confirmed the efficiency of the powerlifting training program in the annual training cycle for 17-18-year old young persons with musculoskeletaldisorders which provides for the use of specific and non-specific loads in a ratio of 60%:40%. Thus, on the basis of experimental studies,an appropriate ratio of specific and non-specific devices of training in the annual powerlifting program for 17-18-year old young persons with cerebral palsy has been substantiated.
