Résumé

The paper intends to explore the revolutionary optimism of Dario Fo and his commitment to a community marginalized by poverty and class prejudice. The paper foregrounds theatre as an important category in understanding the dynamics of power relations in society. The present study primarily engages with Fo as a major exponent of proletarian revolution communicated through his caustic and satirical performances. The study will be done with the help of the analysis of Fo’s select plays. These plays will be analyzed from the Gramscian perspective of hegemony conceptualized in the socio-political and cultural struggle of the Italian working class against the status quo.
