Interference of Social and Cultural Context on Maxim Violation on Top Comments on Indonesian Public Figure's Instagram from a Pragmatic Perspective

Language is the most complex and ever-changing form of arbiter communication. It has an influence to give understanding between speakers, which can lead to social conflict. The formation of information through social and cultural contexts in a discourse increases the meaning of information. This study describes the forms of interference from a sociolinguistic perspective, explains the quantity maxim violation that occur on the top comment of Indonesian public figure's social media, and explains the construction of meaning delivery through changes in social and cultural contexts. This study aims to describe the interference of cultural and social contexts. The content analysis approach method is a method for making conclusions that can be copied and validated from the text. Data collection techniques use reading techniques and note-taking techniques and marking the part that contains interference. Techniques for checking the validity of data use a tool outside of the data to check and compare the data. Triangulation to validate research data consists of triangulation of researchers, theories, methods, and data sources. Based on the results of the qualitative study conducted, it was found that the language used to convey opinions in public figure's comments on their posts committed several violations of maxim and there was interference in the cultural and social context that influenced these comments. The public is required to understand the cultural and social context delivered and this is supported by thousands of speaker who agree on the internalization of the cultural and social context in the comment column on social media.
