Educational quality is a systematic method and organizational challenge. For the present study, research studies were approached through a documentary review and analysis of indexed papers related to educational quality in Latin America, based on the impact generated by policies, systems, models, standards, guides, processes, guidelines and other relevant aspects in the management and evaluation systems of quality in educational institutions. To this end, the following question was formulated: what is the state of research on educational quality published in journals indexed in SCOPUS databases in the last 5 years? A qualitative approach is used, approaching the information in a spiral form, considering the approaches of Hoyos (2010) when defining phases that are developed within the documentary research, in this case delving into the preparatory phase, descriptive phase and interpretative phase. It begins with the definition of units of analysis and literature research, through theoretical positions, concepts, definitions and contributions on the categories of educational quality, quality management systems and evaluation to identify and classify the data to culminate with the analysis and conclusions of the proposed research.
