The research into the wedding proposal ceremony was done due to the culture of negotiation in Minangkabau language in Minangkabau society. This study was aimed to explain the way and the culture of speech. This is a qualitative research with the ethnography of communication method. The result showed that the negotiation was done through turn taking initiated by the speaker himself. However, before the decision was delivered by his own initiative, they had a discussion. The culture of discussion was a tradition preserved by Minangkabau society to reach an agreement. This was done because the decision made would influence the family member in communication was the connotation. The form of speech culture uttered by them was tutuakatoadaiksastraMinang.
