Résumé

Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) is the genuine educational institution that has a major contribution to the development of Indonesian. History has shown pesantren have a significant role in the fight against Indonesian colonialism and imperalism for Indonesia independence. Currently, pesantren are experiencing rapid development, pesantren are no longer synonymous with traditional, but, pesantren are varied and have different characteristics such as Salafiyah, Khalafi (modern), and Salafi. The article was a qualitative research that aimed to find out the nationalism and the expression of nationality values ​​on three differents characters of pesantren in Indonesia such as Salafiyah, Khalafi, and Salafi through the strategies and principles in expressing nationality values. This research found that nationalism and the expression of nationality values ​​on Salafiyah and khalafi pesantren integrated into all learning activities. National values ​​are constructed without recognizing formal and informal boundaries. The actualization of nationality values ​​in the education system both Salafiyah and Khalafi pesantren is conducted either by providing national symbols or verbal symbols. Meanwhile, Salafi pesantren showed the nationalism and the expression of nationality values ​​only through verbal symbolically of oral activities daily at the pesantren because those conflict with the manhaj and madzhab held by the Salafi pesantren.
